Ronco Calino

Lombardy

Organic - Franciacorta

Ronco Calino rises in an extraordinary corner of Franciacorta, sheltered by the hill on which the brilliant pianist Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli built his house.

In 1996, the Virtuoso’s retreat found another illustrious steward, Paolo Radici. The Bergamo entrepreneur was looking for an out-of-the-way home and the fascination of the place quickly captured his heart.

The hill was surrounded by ten hectares of vineyard, whose sight re-awakened his youthful dream of making wine for himself and his friends. In 1999, Radici began construction of the winemaking complex amidst the vines.

Today, those friends are an ever-increasing club of wine aficionados, the fruit of his untiring efforts in the vineyard and winecellar, and of the enthusiastic dedication of his wife, Lara Imberti, who joined the project in 2002. Lara enjoys the assistance of impressive figures: winemaker Leonardo Valenti and agronomist Pierluigi Donna. They work in close collaboration with the Ronco Calino team, a working group that, with an average age of 30, embodies the spirit of today’s Franciacorta: lively, ambitious, passionately committed.

Every Franciacorta with the Ronco Calino name comes from organic viticulture and is a combination of refreshing crispness, elegance, and remarkable dry-edged cleanness.

RPWA - 2011 Franciacorta Brut Millesimato

Dec 2018

91 Points

"The 2011 Franciacorta Brut Millesimato is a festive blend of Chardonnay (60%) and Pinot Nero (40%). Mysample was disgorged in October 2017. This wine sees half of its mass fermented in oak, and the wineboasts thicker textural intensity as a result. The bouquet is characterized by stone fruit, apricot and cream-filled brioche. A sour touch of lemon zest appears on the close. Only 4,500 bottles were released."

RPWA - Franciacorta Brut

Dec 2018

90+ Points

"The NV Franciacorta Brut (a blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Nero) offers delicate notes of springflower, lemon zest and bread crust. A small percentage (just 20%) of the Chardonnay ferments in Frenchbarrique. This is a steady and fresh sparkling wine with fine and persistent beading. Some 40,000 bottleswere produced."

Dec 2018

91 Points

Bottle production is 10,000 units strong."
